About

So why the name sugarplumpenguins you may ask. Well being fans of marvel , there is always an origin story.

It starts with my wonderful son ,  who being autistic preferred the company of his soft toys to people growing up. They were his friends and his  family. Not only did they keep him entertained, they taught him life lessons, made him laugh and comforted him. Each one having a personality, some funny, some naughty, most of them mischievous. The penguins being his favourite, cuddly, plump and obsessed with sweet treats. Candy floss, marshmallows, and chocolates to name a few. The tales of them sneaking around at night looking for sweets or travelling the globe to find the best chocolate kept him happy and entertained after stressful days at school.

So when he finished college , like many young adults of his age he pondered his future, what could he do, what was he capable of, what was his role in life, but most importantly what would make him happy, so he decided to do something which combined his love for baking and craftwork and began working on things he would love to eat and buy himself. After sampling his delicacies we encouraged him to share them with others and after such a positive response he had the confidence to want to sell them. And so the friends who inspires his creations , his Sugarplum or plump penguins! were an obvious choice to name his little enterprise after . Symbolising his past, present and future and a constant reminder that difficulties overcome can lead to wonderful things. We hope you enjoy our eating our sweet treats .

Edit. So it’s been two years since Hamza began his journey and I’m so incredibly proud of how far he has come. He is happier, healthier and grows more independent each day and we feel very blessed.  He is now wanting to expand his small business from online to a little shop where he will be selling his bakes and lots of sensory items which he has personally chosen. Sensory is a big part of our world. Our house is filled with stressballs , fidgets  and lights, all are so important in helping Hamza regulate his body and mind . We thought it was a nice idea to have a shop designated specifically to sensory products , somewhere Hamza would love to go shopping himself without too much noise or distractions. It’s a big step moving from the comfort of his home into the big wide world but it’s a step we only dreamed he would make and we are so proud of him. Thank you all for your support and we look forward to meeting you on our new adventure.
